Yonsei University on a bright, sunny day!
Today was a nice break from the monsoon yesterday, with the sun shining all day but relatively cool temperatures. My premodern Korean history teacher started her first lecture today and it was a little bit daunting. I realized that I know absolutely nothing about premodern Korean history so I'm being a little bit overwhelmed with all the new information. World History was very simple today, as we just discussed the readings we had done last night.
Underwood Hall with the statue of Dr. Underwood
After class, I walked past Underwood Hall, which has a nice little garden in front of it with a statue of Dr. Underwood (the man who the hall is named after). I met up with my roommate and another friend and the three of us went and ate lunch at one of the little cafeterias in the New Millennium Hall. I had bibimbap for lunch, which isn't really special anymore because I eat it so often, haha.

After lunch I went into a nearby classroom building and read a chapter for my world history class, because doing homework alone in my dorm room is incredibly dull and makes me very sleepy. Once I finished that, I was sleepy anyways so I headed back to the dorm and took a nap. I've learned that taking naps in the afternoon is kind of nice because it gets extremely hot in the afternoons here, so taking naps gets me out of the heat of the day and refreshes me for later.
Once I woke up, I met up with four other friends and we decided to walk into Sinchon to find a place to eat dinner. There are so many restaurants in Seoul that we almost never plan where we are going to eat, we just walk down random streets and choose places that look good and have good prices. We ended up eating at a small little restaurant that sold normal Korean food. I got spicy squid stir-fried with rice, which was interesting. I've learned that I'm not a huge fan of squid, but I still ate the food anyway.
After dinner, we went to Natuur POP, which is an ice cream store. I got a scoop of a flavor called Soda Popping Candy, which was kind of like cotton candy flavored ice cream with pop rocks in it. Needless to say, it was extremely sweet and delicious.
After ice cream, we went to find a coffee shop to do some school work in, so we searched around for one. We ended up going to the Hello Kitty Cafe, which is a cafe dedicated entirely to Hello Kitty. We sat in the upstairs area and worked on school work for about two hours until the cafe closed and we left.
The downstairs area of the Hello Kitty cafe. We studied upstairs, which is a lot less cutesy.
My Premodern Korean History class is canceled tomorrow so I only have one class, which is a great start to the weekend! (We only have class Monday through Thursday).
Tomorrow is the 4th of July, and we heard that there will be fireworks shot off in Itaewon, which is also known as "Western Town" and is a place where a lot of foreigners and tourists live and hang out.
That's all for now!
